Dr. Barry L. Stern is a founding member of TFP-New York, having trained at, and worked with the Personality Disorders Institute of Weill Medical College, Cornell, for the past 20 years. Dr. Stern’s work is informed by a modern object-relations frame of reference that he applies to his work treating patients with various conditions related to the intersection of personality and mental health, and to the empirical study of the assessment of personality disorder and health. Dr. Stern is an author of the Structured Interview of Personality Organization-Revised (STIPO-R), and is currently the co-lead-investigator of a study of its reliability and reliability. Dr. Stern writes, teaches, and trains on topics related to the assessment and treatment of borderline and narcissistic pathology. He is an instructor in at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, where has taught modern Kleinian theory of technique, and developed and teaches the Center’s course on systemic-analytic therapy for couples. Dr. Stern maintains a private psychotherapy practice in midtown Manhattan, where he works with adults and couples.
